Hard water is defined as water that contains calcium or magnesium mineral ions, usually in the form of carbonate. These ions are not harmful to health, but they can react to form insoluble mineral deposits.

To descale or clean a kettle: 1. Fill the kettle with 1 cup of vinegar or lemon juice and 2 cups of water. 2. Boil the mixture and let it sit for 2 hours, then use a cloth to clean the kettle. 3. Rinse the kettle with clean water and dry with a soft cloth. 4. Repeat the process as needed.

Please note: 1. If you notice spots or rust on the stainless steel bottom of your kettle after the first use, this is normal in areas with hard water. 2. If you lift the kettle while using the Keep Warm Mode preset, the CO117-DK will continue to heat when returned to the base within 1 minute.
